There is a spot within Phoenixs South Mountain where a natural and enchanting playground exists. This trail travels through a rock-studded canyon, which is home to a variety of Sonoran Desert plants and animals; the trail also reveals two rock wall dams built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. From there, we will make our way through Hidden Valley and scramble over a variety of interesting rock formations. At this point, you can turn around and head back to the trailhead or continue on the longer 4.5-mile section of the trail to explore more of South Mountain Park and Preserve.
